How to Make Your WordPress Website Mobile-Friendly
Most visitors now browse on their phones. Here is how to make sure your WordPress site looks great and works smoothly on every screen.

For most businesses, more than half of website visitors arrive on a phone. If your site is hard to use on a small screen, you lose those visitors — and Google ranks you lower too.
Start with a responsive design
A responsive site adjusts its layout to fit any screen. Modern themes and page builders support this, but every page still needs checking on real devices.
Make text easy to read
Use a body text size of at least 16px, good line spacing and strong contrast. Avoid long walls of text.
Make buttons easy to tap
Buttons and links should be large enough for a thumb — around 44px tall — with space between them.
Simplify navigation
A clear mobile menu with your most important pages helps visitors find what they need fast. Put key actions, like call or contact, within easy reach.
Optimise images and speed
Mobile connections can be slow. Compress images, lazy load media and avoid heavy scripts.
Avoid annoying pop-ups
Full-screen pop-ups on mobile frustrate visitors and can hurt your rankings. Keep them small and easy to close.
Test properly
- Check every page on a real phone, not just a resized browser.
- Fill in your forms and complete a test purchase.
- Run Google PageSpeed Insights for the mobile score.
